Wrap event for RBCC and launch of Flight of the Osprey at the Royal Geographical Society in London. Colin Galbraith (UN Climate change), Joanna Lumley, Tim Smit (Eden Project) speaking. CEOs from Rewilding Britain, NFFN, and 100 other corporate and other supporters attending. Covered on ITV.

Jane Waghorn (Trustee) joined our board of trustees.

MARCH

A recce team including Eilidh Munro (Film), Poul Brix (Photography) and Ruth Pilbeam (Project Management) travelled through Morocco, Spain and Portugal on our second pre-expedition recce to meet partners, manager logistics and gather media content for storytelling throughout the project

FEBRUARY

A recce team including Sacha Clements (Partnerships), Eilidh Munro (Film), Poul Brix (Photography) and Mac Mackenney (Logistics) travelled through Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and Ghana on a pre-expedition recce to meet partners, to manage logistics, and to gather footage and photos of conservation work that we might miss on the expedition

Our Research Officers Dayo Osinubi and Kelly Moon created our FOTO Research Plan under the advice of David Stroud and Sacha Dench

Ruth Pilbeam and Sacha Clements presented the Round Britain Climate Challenge at Sonning and Sonning Eye Society AGM by Professor Alastair Driver’s invitation

NOVEMBER

The team regrouped to debrief on the Round Britain Climate Challenge at the Royal Geographical Society, then Flight of the Osprey planning officially began

NOVEMBER

We reached COP26, representing the Round Britain Climate Challenge and our UK-wide network of climate action to policy makers and business leaders in both the Green and Blue Zones. The COP26 team included Sacha Clements (Partnerships Manager), Ruth Pilbeam (Office and Project Administrator), Gill Pipes (Chair of Trustees) and Eilidh Munro (RBCC Content Producer). We hosted a stall in the Green Zone, then presented our Project Film ‘Round Britain Climate Challenge: Discovering the Green Revolution’ in the Blue Zone.

SEPTEMBER

The Trustees have announced the completion of the Round Britain Climate Challenge following a major incident in the Western Highlands

SEPTEMBER

We re-entered Scotland for final leg of the expedition, holding a press event by the Kelpies and following our route

AUGUST

Travelling around the South of England and up the East coast, the team explored examples of climate change in the UK, meeting experts and innovators battling these effects.

JULY

The team travelled through North West England and Wales, meeting hundreds of people working on climate action in their area. To show one story up close, Sacha and Dan dove down to an ocean farm off the coast of St Davids.

JUNE

After a few days nervously para-waiting as we battled Western Scottish winds, the Expedition launched from a beach on the coast near Glasgow, travelling South around the coast to discover what the British public know about climate action.

Finally, our Expedition Press Launch! We hosted a socially distanced press event outside of Glasgow Science Centre which would soon be the COP26 Green Zone.

We held an Expedition Team Training in Devon, gathering most of our Expedition Team. The Team was dynamic, but by the end it had included: Sacha Dench (Expedition Lead), Dan Burton (Adventure Cameraman), Louis Wright (Expedition Logistics), Charlotte Harrison-Littlefield (Project Liaison), Tom Reader (Producer/Director), Benjamin Raymond (Content Producer), Rowan Aitchison (Content Producer), Joshua Greene (Media Assistant), Eilidh Munro (Content Producer), Mark Hewitt (Media Manager), Jim Gibson (Expedition Support). The Home Team included: Sacha Clements (Partnerships Manager), Ruth Pilbeam (Acting Project Manager), Jackie Pederson (PR), Amanda Brackey (Communications Strategist), Lizzie Faircliff (Social Media), John Wimperis (Social Media), Megan McFarlane Communications), Sam Whitton (Editor)

APRIL

Our Media Internship was launched for pre-expedition content. Joshua Greene, Grace Hunt and Alex Squires joined Sacha Dench in Devon for the creation of myriad pre-expedition materials

APRIL

Sacha Clements joined the team as Partnerships Manager, securing final sponsors and keeping everyone updated as we counted down to launch

We made our official Round Britain Climate Challenge Partnership Announcement, excited to work with a multitude of generous sponsors including EDF (Headline), Mastercard (Major) and Britishvolt (Associate)

MARCH

Ruth Holwell joined the team as Office and Project Administrator after 9 months as a CWB volunteer

2020

DECEMBER

Aiming to raise awareness and funds for our Round Britain Climate Challenge, we launched a Crowdfunder for the month of December. With a wonderful outpouring of support, we reached our target. The final contribution came directly from Dame Joanna Lumley as she reached out to get involved in the expedition herself.

2019

DECEMBER

Our website launched! Under Louis’ careful curation, www.conservation-without-borders.org came to be

DECEMBER

Louis Wright joined the team as Head of Digital Operations, through a UN internship scheme run by the Bonn Convention.

NOVEMBER

Sacha Dench, Ambassador for the UN’s Convention on Migratory Species, founded Conservation Without Borders with the help of our Trustees: Gill Pipes (Chair), Emma White and Steve Holland
