Zero Waste Scotland (MacLean’s Bakery and Windswept Brewery)

Zero Waste Scotland champions the circular economy, helping business to work together in innovative ways to become more sustainable. MacLean’s Bakery and the Windswept Brewery were introduced to each other by Zero Waste Scotland. Together they found an innovative way to reduce waste from the brewery by producing new biscuit cracker made from the waste draff from the brewery. MacLean’s are exploring how to improve their packaging to be more sustainable, whilst Windswept is working with local barley farmers to develop a new sustainable beer called Pioneer. This is partnership demonstrates a fantastic example of the circular economy in action.
