EXPEDITIONS

OUR EXPEDITIONS

We look at these global challenges from different angles, through the eyes of migratory species, the most threatened animals on the planet.

ROUND BRITAIN CLIMATE CHALLENGE

Our campaign will involve Sacha Dench (aka ‘the human swan’) attempting something that has never been done before – a 3000+ mile circumnavigation of Britain in a specially adapted, green electricity powered paramotor. Because she can take off and land almost anywhere, she and the team will be landing to recharge and rest with the interesting and inspirational people around the country, the ones can show us exactly how climate change is changing our country, and what we can do about it.

FLIGHT OF THE OSPREY

Flight of the Osprey is an innovative airborne conservation project in collaboration with UN agencies, scientists, media and governments. Accompanying the osprey on its 2021 autumn migration across Europe and Africa, this 10000 km paramotor expedition will gather vital data on the threats faced by this iconic bird of prey and other migratory species.

FLIGHT OF THE SWANS

Sacha’s epic migration saw her cross the wilderness of the arctic tundra, endure injury, brave freezing temperatures, and battle through snow and thunder storms to make it back to Slimbridge. The project used a powerful story and images to generate conversation, a wave of support and local initiatives for the swans, as well as over 2000 articles in the media across the world. The latest figures show that for the first time in 20 years the Bewick's swan numbers have stopped declining, and could be on the rise.

UN BIODIVERSITY CHALLENGE

A major report published in May 2019 warned species extinction was accelerating with ecosystems deteriorating at rates unprecedented in human history. (IPBES Report). The UN have set a new 10 year objective: At least 30% of the world’s land and seas should be protected by 2030 and pollution from plastic waste and excess nutrients to be reduced by 50% to prevent the destruction of the planet’s biodiversity, critical to life on earth.
