Why is this important?

Funds raised help to support existing and future planned projects. This role helps promote the message and goals of CWB as well as raising the funds to fulfill important projects. It is a critical role within CWB in order achieve the CWB vision and drive global change.

What migratory species inspires me?

The Eastern Curlew (Critically Endangered) is the largest migratory shorebird in the world and is endemic to the East Asian – Australasian Flyway. Living at the end of the flyway in Victoria, Australia, I am keenly interested in their conservation. I am also part of an Australian arts initiative, The Overwintering Project, which aims to raise awareness of migratory birds at a local level and connect the artist to their own "site" . The project's rationale is the only way we can ensure the future of our migratory shorebirds is through the responsible stewardship of habitat, to which we are connected and for which we care.

Why the photo?

I'm an Australian printmaker and my print of the Eastern Osprey and Black Rabbitfish first connected me with Sacha Dench. It was through a mutual friend, Kathy Mexted (photo credit also), who had seen this artwork and connected it to the Flight of the Osprey that I was introduced to Sacha. She identified that I would share her vision and have practical skills to support it.
