Ambassador, UN’s Convention on Migratory Species

Sacha Dench

As founder of Conservation without Borders, I am looking out for the species and issues that most need help, and the right people to help us do it. Joining wild animals on migration when I can.

Why is this important?

Rapid change for biodiversity and climate is all about influencing people. Nature knows what to do if we let it. I fly because a birds-eye-view on our world shows the connections between issues, and between us... snd from the clouds, our world looks smaller, and our problems easier to solve.

What migratory species inspires me?

Is this a bit like asking a parent 'Which child is your favourite?'. The first to inspire me were the sharks I saw swimming off Sydney - so graceful, so fascinating, and so feared.

Why the photo?

I'm known for flying with birds, freediving with sharks etc, but the most powerful moments for me are with people. There's pure joy in inspiring young people to take their own unique collection of skills and passions and combining them to find their own superpowers.
